Your Spaces
Designing spaces with students in mind
LUU is home to your Student Exec, clubs & societies, student reps, study spaces, and a whole variety of shops, bars, and cafes. Whether you’re looking for a place to hang out with friends over drinks, revise for an exam somewhere quiet, or try out new hobbies, LUU is the place to be.
Union Square
Located on the -1 floor, Union Square is an open space to study, have your lunch, catch up with friends, and visit or put up stalls.
Surrounded by a variety of eateries – Waki Maki, Humpit, Tantino, Pearls and Scream – and with Common Ground and Co-op nearby, it is an excellent place for lunch. There is a variety of tables and seating options available, including soft chairs and tables with plug sockets to catch up with friends and with studies.
This space is often used to display stalls with useful information and exciting opportunities. It can be booked by any student – just talk to the Activities team!
Crossroads
Crossroads, next to Joblink, is a multi-functional entertainment lounge – your space to play, watch, read, and de-stress.
Equipped with gaming computers, boardgames, cards and comics, and a cosy reading area, this is the perfect place to relax and have fun.
It is open to all students between 11am – 5pm, and it can be booked by clubs and societies in the evenings.
LUU: Shared Memories
On the first floor of the LUU building, you’ll find LUU: Shared Memories – a memorabilia wall that celebrates the contributions, past and present, of our members during their time at Leeds University.
In partnership with LUU, our students have joined together to create an inclusive community.
Pop up or click the button to see how students loved their time at Leeds.
Essentials
Upstairs on the balcony over The Refectory, you’ll find Essentials – LUU’s basic needs hub.
Here, you’ll find emergency food assistance, non-perishables, and breakfast products, as well as sanitary products to pick up for free. Essentials also offers signposting to support services, including wellbeing, and financial literacy.
PGR Lounge
On the same floor as Essentials, you’ll find the PGR Lounge – a space for collaboration, study, and support, for our PGR students.
PGR Lounge offers facilities for quiet study, and for collaborative work. There is a boardroom for meetings, and a dedicated unit to support postgraduate students. There is also an interactive wall board to find and share updates and opportunities.
