Research and Insight
Your LUU, your voice
At LUU, we’re committed to ensuring that students love their time at Leeds. As part of this, our Insight Team collects student feedback on a regular basis into a variety of different topics to aim towards creating change and improving your student experience. This research helps us to shape future decisions and work on things that matter the most to you, to ensure that all students are included, feel empowered, and have fun.
Your feedback matters.
Help us support YOU!
Stay in the loop
The Insight mailing list is a diverse pool of students at Leeds who have the opportunity to get involved with various different surveys or focus groups on a variety of different topics, ranging from voting in Lead LUU to sharing your opinions on sustainability. These opportunities operate on an opt-in format, and usually come with incentives to thank you for your input.
Join the Insight panel
We’re currently recruiting for new students to become members of our Insight Panel for the academic year 2024-25.
The Student Insight Panel is a group of students who we get in contact with at the end of every term to hear about your experiences with LUU. For each of these short termly surveys you complete, you will be guaranteed to win a £5 voucher of your choice. This is a great way to share your feedback, so we can continue to improve your University experience.
Achieving change together
- Alongside the idea put forward by the Wellbeing Officer, further consultations with students revealed the keen interest in LUU providing drug testing kits. As of 2023, this idea was implemented and you can now acquire these from the Advice Office.
- Identifying the need for additional extracurricular opportunities, the new entertainment and relaxation space Crossroads was co-designed by students, guided by student feedback and ideas.

Essentials
Findings from 22/23 revealed that a particular area of concern for students was around saving time and money. This fed into LUU’s plan and creation of Essentials, the basic needs hub for students facing financial difficulties. Furthering this, students told us in Term 3 of 23/24 that they would like to see financially educational workshops to equip them with the skills to make smarter financial decisions. Essentials now also holds fun activities and life skills workshops.
World Unite Festival
Students told us they would like to see more cultural events in LUU to celebrate diversity across the university. Our Events team have been working hard in planning this year’s Winter World Unite Festival, a festival that had previously lasted for three days, but it is now a full week long of fun activities and events. This will take place on 18 – 22 November.
LUU Eats App
After telling us students would like to see more offers and discounts in LUU, we created an LUU Rewards system via the LUU Eats app. With the app, you can collect points at LUU’s eateries which you can later spend to save on your treats.
Meet the team
Our Insight Team consists of two full-time members of staff, as well as two part-time student staff. Co-collaborating with students on our research is important to us to ensure that LUU is shaped by you.
