SHAG Week Stalls
Throughout the week, we ran a SHAG Week fair. This offered a unique opportunity to connect with various external organisations and student societies. Our stall provided valuable information on sexual health, relationships, and access to useful resources. Organisations included: The University of Leeds Harassment & Misconduct team, Leeds’ Women’s Aid, Leeds Student Medical Practice, Sexpressions, Yorkshire MESMAC and many others.
Sexual Health Pop-up Clinic
We organised a HIV/STI pop-up testing clinic, which was facilitated on campus by Yorkshire MESMAC.
Give It A Go Sessions
Across the week, there were a range of society Give It A Go sessions. This included a collaboration between BSL and SASHA to teach relationship awareness, consent, and relevant signs. Heelz also offered free dance lessons in one of their weekly studio slots.
Wellbeing Workshops
We hosted numerous self-expression and self-care sessions, including tote bag decorating and pet therapy!
Fruity & Old Bar
Our SHAG Week-inspired Old Bar quiz spotlighted our local sexual health service Yorkshire MESMAC.
You may have seen the Leeds branch of Sexpressions, a UK charity dedicated to empowering young people to make informed decisions about relationships and sex, hosting a glitter and tattoo stall at Fruity. This helped to raise vital funds and awareness and provide education and resources to students.
We hope you enjoyed getting involved in our first-ever SHAG week. Keep an eye on our website and socials for news on other upcoming events (@leedsuniunion on all channels).
