“Being recognised for my contributions to student wellbeing has made me realise the impact I have had on the students on a personal level at Lupton, and has inspired me to continue striving for making young people aware of how much support is around them and encouraging them to make the most of it! Being a part of ResLife makes you realise how much impact you can make in shaping experiences and how valued you views are.” – Fatiya
“This is my second year as a Residence Life Assistant (‘RLA’) at Montague Burton Residences. Last year, I was shortlisted for the ‘Rising Star’ category, so to have been recognised as the ‘Exceptional RLA of the Year’ at this year’s Halls Awards is an incredible achievement for me and one I have worked towards with passion and diligence. ResLife has been an instrumental part of my University of Leeds student experience and I could not thank them, my accommodation halls’ warden, and colleagues enough for supporting me with my role. I have been fortunate to meet hundreds of new people and create lasting memories through the events I have organised/assisted with. The ability to offer situational resolutions, help, and mentor-like advice to our residents has made this role pleasant, and even more so when witnessing the material positive impact on others – especially when university is a new environment for most. I am confident that the skills I have acquired as part of my role will support me both in my professional and post-university personal development.” – Georgi
