We want to support our student communities by giving them a platform to help educate people, raise awareness, and campaign. We are holding drop-in sessions for liberation and welfare societies and clubs to collect their ideas, thoughts and concerns. Alternatively, if you want to express your opinion (positive or negative) anonymously, please leave your comments here.
Additionally, we are preparing a list of LUU places that will be free of football chatter, as well as things to do to get in the football spirit outside the World Cup. We are also working on a programme of activities to get involved with alongside the tournament.
We want to acknowledge that this situation might be triggering to different communities for different reasons, and our Help & Support Team are here to listen and offer guidance and support.
We encourage you to educate yourself on the situation, and we suggest reading this article which describes the human rights abuses linked to this World Cup in detail.
It matters to us that every student feels heard and represented at LUU, so, in a divisive event like this, we encourage you to get in touch and share your thoughts, so we can continue monitoring the situation and adjusting our approach to make this an enjoyable experience for all.
