LeadLUU 2022 Results: Meet your new Student Exec

After an exciting period of nominations, campaigning and voting, your new Student Exec for the 2022/23 academic year has been selected.

We’re sad to see the leadership race come to an end, but are thankful to everyone involved in LeadLUU who played a part in making Leeds a better place to be as a student, including candidates, staff, and voters – overall 5273 of you voted in this year’s election.

Congratulations to all of our candidates for their brilliant campaigns, and to our winners for their exciting achievement. Find out who they are and a little more about their roles below.

Meet your new officers

Gryphon Editor: Alba Goskova (she/her)

Studying Journalism

The Gryphon Editor heads up the student newspaper and brings you informative and interesting news about university life.

Wellbeing Officer: Emily Tabern (she/her)

Studying International Communication

Here for your health and happiness at Leeds. They’re focused on making sure students have access to any help and support they might need whilst at University.

Union Affairs & Communications Officer: Maria Papageorgiou (she/her)

Studying Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence

This Officer is all about the governance, democracy and finance of the Union. Keeping it up and running, and fair for you, and helping to govern the University to make sure it reflects your views.

International & Postgraduate Officer: Vicky Zhuo (she/her)

Studying International Relations

Represents our diverse international and postgraduate community, creating opportunities to share culture and experiences, and ensuring that these groups are fully represented.

Equality & Liberation Officer: Haryati (she/her)

Studying Child and Family Studies

They make sure the Union, University and further afield are accessible and inclusive for everyone. They fight to make your time at Leeds fair.

Education Officer: Bethan Corner (she/her)

Studying Theatre and Performance with Enterprise

Changes things up for the better so that the University is always providing students with the best academic experience, helping them to get the most out of their degree.

Activities & Opportunities Officer: Ella Williams (she/her)

Studying Biological Sciences

Here to make sure your social life thrives at Uni. Through getting the right funding for clubs and societies, tackling the cost of sport or making sure our co-curricular activities are the best in the country.

Your Exec officers work together to lead the Union, deciding its direction, representing its students and becoming the face of the Union. It’s super important to know who they are, as their campaigns impact how we do things, and your time as a student at Leeds.

Our current Exec will hand over to those newly elected on 20 June 2022, with the new team starting their roles officially on 1 July, in preparation for the new academic year. Watch this space for all the exciting things they have in store in the new academic year for you and your Union.
