Your top policy priority in a sentence?
I want a university that is accessible and friendly to all, an approachable union that proactively supports those who need it, and genuine accountability and transparency on our campus.
Favourite club or society?
Leeds University Union Music Society Composers Collective because it represents such a broad range of artistic expression. As an autistic person I struggle with new social environments and they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and included.
Balcony or Common Ground?
I miss Wok&Go and it will never be replaced 🙁
Big night at Fruity or a chilled evening elsewhere?
Chilled evening elsewhere. I love a nice bit of live music at a small venue.
Laidlaw or Eddy B?
Eddy B, always. So many levels to choose from, which one will I pick today?
What’s it called: bacon or wiggly lines?
Wiggly lines I guess.
Ultimate potato stack topping?
I prefer chips.
Favourite spot on campus?
I love the old elevator at the back of the Brotherton, nerdy answer I know.
And the big one – why should students vote for you?
Equality has been a passion of mine for a long time, due to both personal experience, and listening to the experiences of others. I want to move away from self-service support and put in place forums through which students, particularly those of marginalised groups, can easily raise issues and communicate with each other. I will always strive to make you feel represented and included, and fight for a campus that is welcoming to all.

Celebrate our presence (under-represented and liberation groups), give us space to talk informally with each other as well as with other students and staff across the university.
Favourite club or society?
Mature Student Hour – officially doesn’t fall into either category.
Balcony or Common Ground?
Common Ground (it’s the sofa/settee).
Big night at Fruity or a chilled evening elsewhere?
Chilled evening, my clubbing days are what we call ‘history’
Laidlaw or Eddy B?
Eddy B but I’ve always known him as Edward
What’s it called: bacon or wiggly lines?
Neither. It’s facon in this household.
Ultimate Old Bar potato stack topping?
I’d say pulled jackfruit because it’s been unavailable every time I tried to order it.
Favourite spot on campus?
Lifelong Learning Centre resource area.
And the big one – why should students vote for you?
They don’t have to vote for me but I’d like them to because I’d make a good Equality and Liberation officer.
Yasmin Khanagha
Course: MA Biomedical and Healthcare Ethics (but I also did my nursing degree here as well)
Your top policy priority in a sentence?
Liberating every aspect of university- from sports and societies to wellbeing!
Favourite club or society?
Hard to choose out of 300, but shout out to all the welfare socs, as well as the nursing society.
Balcony or Common Ground?
Common Ground.
Big night at Fruity or a chilled evening elsewhere?
Chilled evening.
Laidlaw or Eddy B?
Laidlaw (sorry Eddy B Spiderman).
What’s it called: bacon or wiggly lines?
Wiggly lines.
Ultimate Old Bar potato stack topping/favourite food from an LUU outlet?
Terraces Veggie Pizza (only because I’ve never been to Old Bar).
Favourite spot on campus?
In front of Roger Stevens building (where you can see all the ducks).
And the big one – why should students vote for you?
I’ve been a liberation coordinator twice since starting at Leeds- that means I’ve worked alongside the current Equality and Liberation Officer(s). A vote for me is someone who’s got the experience and knows the union in and out!
