Your School will be best placed to let you know how the strikes will affect your timetable – not all staff are members of UCU. During ASOS striking staff will be working to their contracted hours only, which means they will not work outside of these hours or cover additional activities, such as for other staff who are on annual leave or off sick. Again, your School will be best placed to update you on what this means for you.
As your Student Exec, we’ve listened to all the viewpoints shared with us in the recent drop-in sessions and meetings. We are continuing to make sure your voices are heard in the discussions taking place between UCU and the University, so please keep sharing your opinions, concerns, and questions with us. Join us online today or our Help and Support Team Q and A session on Thursday, if you want to share something with us in person, or email us. Every comment helps us better understand your views, concerns, and experiences and informs how we can better support you.
We appreciate that there will be varying degrees of uncertainty as the action begins and you are informed by your School about what this will mean for you, so please remember that we are here to help you over the coming weeks and months. There’s the Strike Action 2021 page on our website that explains what the strike is about and what it could mean for you, along with the latest updates and common FAQs. There are also links to the Leeds UCU website and University’s statements and updates.
LUU will remain open during this time and the LUU Help and Support Team and LUU Academic Engagement Team are also here to answer any immediate questions. So, if you’re unsure about what will happen or have any questions after speaking to your School do get in touch.
We will keep updating our website as we learn more, so do keep checking for the latest FAQs.
