We want everyone using our venues and services to have a safe and enjoyable time whether taking part in one of our on or off campus activities. We take our duty of care very seriously and work closely with the university, police and other authorities every year to try to prevent these incidents happening to anyone.
This year we have sought to increase awareness of the issue in response to concerns reported to our officers. We have provided posters and digital screen information, training our staff in associated initiatives such as ‘Ask Angela’ and investing in drinks protection measures for anyone who wants to use them. Our teams are working with our Officers to continually review our operations and to protect all attendees, we will be introducing additional searches on entry to our club nights. We are also now ‘Good night out’ accredited (www.goodnightoutcampaign.org).
If you have any immediate concerns, you can speak to our police liaison officer at a drop in surgery on Thursday 21 October in the Leeds University Union foyer 10 am to 12 pm. You can also receive confidential support from our Help and Support team. Contact: advice@luu.leeds.ac.uk.
Drinks spiking is a criminal offence and it’s important we work together to catch the people doing this.
