The partnership means that should you find yourself stranded somewhere after dark, Amber drivers will take you – as a University of Leeds student – home safely, even if you don’t have any money.
So how does it work?
If you find yourself stuck, you can call Amber Cars on 0113 2311 366 and ask for a taxi on the Student Safety Scheme account. Instead of payment, you should leave your Student ID card with the driver, which will be dropped off in the Union building within a few days. You can then come along to the LUU Cash Office, pick up your card and settle up the fare.
Please note that the Student Safety Scheme doesn’t run 24 hours a day – you will only be eligible for the scheme if it’s after dark and you don’t have any money to get home.
LUU has worked in partnership with Amber Cars, our preferred taxi service, since 2009.
