Give It A Go
Find your passion and your people
Clubs and societies are essential in fostering friendships and belonging at university, and in filling your free time with new skills, fun, and meaningful memories.
With more than 300 clubs and societies at LUU, you might be struggling to choose where to start. Or, perhaps you’re unsure if you can commit to a year-long membership, but you still want to see what our clubs and societies can offer.
This is where Give It A Go (GIAG) comes to play. Run by clubs and societies themselves or by LUU, GIAG are free (or low-cost) events, open to every student. Think of it as a snapshot of a club or a society.
GIAG could be the beginning of a new hobby or a lifelong friendship!

GIAG by Clubs & Societies
Our clubs and societies deliver a GIAG programme at the start of Term 1 in October and Term 2 in January which is your opportunity to try a club or a society for free before buying a membership.
These are beginner-friendly events, suited for those interested in joining a specific club or a society, and those who have never heard of our clubs and societies before alike.
GIAG All Year Round
LUU runs an all-year-round programme of free low-commitment extra-curricular activities, from speed-friending, to gaming tournaments.
These events are open to everyone, and they are a great opportunity to find your community if you haven’t had the chance to join a club or a society yet. So, don’t worry if you feel like you missed your chance at Welcome, because we will welcome you all year round!
See you at the next GIAG event!
Crossroads
If you have any questions about the GIAG programme and how you can get involved, you can always drop by Crossroads in Union Square. Our staff will be able to recommend the right GIAG event to you based on your interests and availability.
Besides, Crossroads is a great space to explore if you need a break – it is a cosy lounge equipped for all your gaming, reading and socialising needs!
