Ingredients:
- 1 onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 pack mince (we use beef or Quorn)
- 1 packet spaghetti
- 2 tins of chopped tomatoes
- Beef stock (optional)
- Parmesan (optional)
- Herbs like basil or oregano (optional)
- Oil, salt and pepper
Garlic bread or salad, to serve
Method:
- Finely chop your onion and garlic, then set aside.
- Fry the mince in a large pan until it’s brown. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.
- Sauté the chopped onion and garlic for a few minutes until they start to go golden, then add the browned mince back to the pan.
- Add the two tins of chopped tomatoes, plus any herbs and stock you’re using. Give it all a good mix, then leave it to simmer for 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally. If it starts looking a bit dry, add a splash of water or stock to get it back to the desired consistency.
- When you have 10 minutes to go, boil your spaghetti for 8-10 minutes, and if you’re having garlic bread too, get it cooked according to the instructions on the packet.
- Have a taste of the bolognese sauce and adjust the seasoning if required.
- Drain your pasta and serve topped with bolognese sauce. Sprinkle over some cheese, and buon appetito!
