How your food shop can fund your Union: Introducing Co-op at LUU

If you’re a new student at Leeds, or a returning one who hasn’t been able to spend much time on campus, you might not be aware of our on-campus supermarket, Co-op.

Co-op, which is based inside the LUU building (level -1), is the only supermarket on the Uni of Leeds campus, providing convenience, value, and lots of student benefits.

Being located at the heart of campus is a clear plus – it’s the closest supermarket and food shop to the Leeds University campus, making it super convenient for grabbing a quick lunch or dinner supplies on the way home – but there are plenty of other reasons why we think it makes sense for students to shop there. Let’s take a look.

Co-op's owned and run by LUU

You might already recognise the Co-op brand, but our store’s franchise status means that you can get great Co-op products alongside the benefits that come with the rest of our outlets.

The supermarket being owned and run by LUU means that like our other shops, cafes and bars, any profits made at Co-op are reinvested into Union services. Put simply, by shopping at the Co-op you’re improving your student experience, from clubs to campaigns.

Not only that, but because the Union’s in charge of who we hire, lots of students are employed there. We’re all about getting students ready for their future, and providing part-time work is a great way to achieve that. What’s more, LUU being in charge means students have a genuine say in the way things are done at the Co-op, and if you want to change things, you can.

Co-op offers a 10% student discount for students with a TOTUM card. Whether you’re just grabbing a cheap lunch on campus or doing the weekly shop, the savings all add up. You can also register as a Co-op member to get personalised deals and collect points which can become rewards, or you can opt to donate them to charitable causes.
