Breakfast
Common Ground is the place to be at breakfast.
Here you can get your hands on classics like toast, porridge and pastries, or if you’re after something a bit more substantial you could grab a breakfast sandwich or bagel. There’s plenty of gluten free, vegan and veggie options on offer too. Naturally, you’ll want a hot drink, which you can add to your breakfast for a small price, or check out the full menu for something more fancy.
Either way, a morning stop at Common Ground will leave you ready for the day.
Lunch
It’s been a long morning, and it’s time to get out of the library before your stomach starts growling (we’ve all been there). Luckily the Union building has plenty of options for lunch – from Old Bar’s famous potato stacks to an easy Co-op meal deal. Today though, let’s try out Humpit.
Humpit is one of our tenants, and you may have seen their other branch in the Corn Exchange. They serve up super satisfying plant-based goodness, including falafel, hummus, pita, salads and sides. And there’s a deal on right now where you can grab a falafel pita, fries and a drink for just £6 all in. Bargain.
Something sweet
For those who like to wrap up lunch with something sweet, LUU’s got just the ticket. Our newest outlet, Scream, is an ice cream and dessert parlour, serving you ice creams, shakes and other desserts right at the heart of campus.
Their offerings are delicious, and affordable too, but to make things even cooler (see what we did there?), this outlet is focused on sustainability, with an environmentally sustainable supplier, vegan options and no single use plastic to be found. Be sure to pop in to see which flavours are available, and whether there’s any exciting seasonal specials on.
Dinner
Time for dinner – but what to pick? You can still hit up plenty of our outlets in the evenings, including Wok&Go.
With a menu ranging from Panko prawns to Peking loaded fries, plus a solid vegan selection too, Wok&Go takes the best from Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Chinese and Japanese cuisine with their extensive, tasty and reasonably priced menu. You can even build your own rice or noodle box if the set dishes aren’t floating your boat.
Plus, there’s some great deals on at the moment – 20% student discount until the end of May, or 2 for 1 Tuesdays when you order via their app.
And a well-deserved pint
After a long day of studying (and eating tasty things from our cafes and outlets), it’s time to head to Old Bar for a drink with friends. Old Bar is our traditional style pub, serving traditional pub grub, and a broad drinks menu with a focus on real ales. In normal times they show sports games too.
Not an ale drinker? No worries. All your other favourites – alcoholic and otherwise – are available to order at this student favourite.
We think that great places to refuel and socialise are part of what makes a happy student experience, and we can’t wait to see you all back on campus enjoying everything we have to offer. For those who haven’t had the chance to check it out yet, we know you’ll love what awaits you.
So if that whet your appetite, imagine the possibilities when all of our shops, bars and cafes are back open. Just keep up to date on what’s opening when with our online roadmap.
