Halls
Your Halls of Residence
The University Halls of Residence are where most students will start their adventure in Leeds.
Whilst in Halls you can enjoy free food events, nights out, day trips and loads more organised for you by a team of student volunteers called The Residence Life Social Committee.
Find out more about the different Halls below, as well as the Residence Life Social committee and upcoming events. You can also find lots more details on specific halls, as well as information on how to apply on the University’s accommodation pages here (external link).
As well as this, we encourage you to join the Residence Life Social Committee at your halls. These committees provide an opportunity for you to run events for your fellow residents. You’ll work with a budget and develop key professional skills including teamwork, running meetings and collecting feedback.
The Residence Life Social Committee
The Residence Life social committee (RLSC) programme provides you with the opportunity to run events for other students and to make the most of your time in residences. The social committees meet regularly and work within a budget to plan exciting social events, fundraisers and campaigns. Being part of the programme will help you to meet other people and to develop important professional skills including event management, teamwork and time management. You will also be part of a wider development programme focussed on leadership, teambuilding and personal development.
This opportunity is available to anyone living in residences, and you can apply here. The deadline to apply for the 2022/23 academic year is Sunday October 09.

Time Commitments
· Mandatory training on Saturday 22nd October for the full day
· Teambuilding and development days in each Semester for all the Residence Life Social Committees
· Weekly meetings and attendance at all events
· Additional training sessions will be organised if required
Structure of the programme
Committees will meet weekly with their group and their Warden, or they can choose to meet fortnightly with their Warden. Committees will need to choose a time/day/place for this weekly meeting.
Centrally we will host development sessions each term (1 before Christmas, 1 before Easter, 1 before Summer exams to finish the year). These sessions will consist of teambuilding, a training activity, a talk from internal/external speaker and a social afterwards with food/drinks.
Training is on October 22nd, so the first development session will be late Nov or early December (roughly 5 weeks after training). This will largely be a fun teambuilding session with some training incorporated. This will be held off campus but not far from Leeds (transport to be arranged).
We will also run ad hoc training as required when new member joins a committee or where students are facing any issues. Wardens can run this training if they feel capable (training resources given to Wardens I.e powerpoint, specific tasks for roles, digital handbook).
