Breaking Barriers
- Collaborated with ISOC to strengthen faith-based support. There is more work to be done.
- Worked with the BSL Society to improve accessibility through interpreter initiatives.
- Attended the APPG with Lucy: takeaway tackling scams targeting students.
- Idea planning: the “How to Be More Inclusive” series with Lydia, helping clubs and societies become more welcoming.
Empower Voices
- Led a reworking of LSC to make it more effective to drive change.
- Organised the LSC Speed Friending Event to build connections and community.
- Integrated SASHA Accreditation, ensuring consent training and active bystander training are mandatory.
- Worked closely with Security on VAWG, SafeZone, and spiking prevention initiatives.
- Opened the Liberation Hub—planning a launch both soft and hard phases and also created a mural comp for student art work to be showcased.
Fix the Cistem
- Engaged in policy work and a dedicated working group to drive change.
- Successfully launched the Gender Expression Fund, supporting trans and non-binary students.
Other Wins
- Won the Lead LUU election! I have been elected as the 2025/26 Union Affairs & Communications Officer.
- Spoke at the Sexual Harassment Awareness Panel, pushing for better protections for students.
Felix- International & Postgraduate Officer
Improving Students’ Experience
- International students January/february welcome and induction talks to aprox 300 students.
- Represented students’ concerns about registration and visas across/ LUU support, the pro deans international committee, the University central cases committee, and the international office.
- Provided panel talks on Campus reimagined. Lived experience
- Participated in changes on University Residency Disciplinary Regulations (Sanctions Pathway to exclude Punitive measures and replace with educative measures).
Enhanced Information Services
- Relayed 5 Notices from the University across LUU/Students
- Moved around the campus to observe Digital Screens message integrations across the University. Found LUU messages being displayed. A few areas for improvement were noted, especially in the faculty of medicine on display time.
Networking and Engagement
- Met with the NHS team and agreed to launch the Medical Coordination Forum, which will consist of GPs, Universities, LUU, and five students.
- Completed Feedback collection on International students’ parliament/conference Guidelines. This is ready to be launched.
- Attendance to Women in Sports talk, Election Result Night.
Lucy- Union Affairs & Communications Officer
Spiking/Nighttime Safety
- Spoke at Pubwatch to all venues in Headingley, presenting at the City pubwatch in March.
- Attended sexual harassment panel -> future meeting with WYCA about this and spiking survey.
- Contacted socs interested in women’s+ nighttime safety -> developing a collaborative project or campaign.
- Fruity nighttime safety – improved consistency and briefings for security staff.
Housing
- Meeting with Residence Services – setting up student commuter hotel, reduced increased uni accom rent prices.
- Met with Cllr Jess Lennox about services for students to report private landlords and issues with selective licensing in HMOs.
- Attended the largest-attended APPG for students led by NUS on the Renters Rights Bill and sent emails to House of Lords members to support this Bill.
- Meeting on scames.
Civic Community Work
- Attended NUS North East and Yorkshire conference.
- Setting up regular meetings with Leeds SUs: Create committees for three key areas: housing, transport, and nighttime safety.
- Reached out to the Head of City Council and sent follow up about sitting on committees.
- Plan to structure civic and national engagement next year.
Student Voice
- Student voice in the city.
- Creating a proposal for new student exec structure to include more student voice and rep structures.
- Presented at the Campus Regimagined event on the area “a place to learn”.
Healthcare Students
- Attended Wellbeing Wednesdays.
- Catalyst fund to provide more engagement events with free food for healthcare students.
- Healthcare student survey with the Russell Group – hoping to write a letter soon!
Community Cohesion
- Regular meetings with JSoc in full swing.
- Amara and I are looking at setting up a dialogue between ISoc and JSoc.
- Involved in University of Sanctuary scholarship implementation, including ensuring the University can provide the right support to these students.
Other
- Went to Stockholm (Reflections update incoming!).
- Was voted in as the 2025/26 Political and Campaigning Rep.
Lydia- Activities & Opportunities Officer
- Hosted the women in sport panel.
- Campaigned to be re-elected in Lead LUU.
- Worked through 300+ emails.
- Divised a project plan for how I want to approach the next stage of work (short, medium and long term).
- Collected, recorded and analysed focus group data.
- Set up the trans inclusion in sport working group.
- Formed 13 new societies.
- Discussed accessibility in Clubs and Societies.
- I have been accepted to present a poster presentation at the Women in Sport and Exercise Academic Network in June.
