With the help of Nanu Group whose Design Director, Ellen Pryce, is an Alumni of Leeds University, we set out to deliver a new venue and experience for Leeds students.
Our aim was to create a space that’s accessible, sustainable and community-driven, considering a variety of students’ needs.
It now has booths and tables, smaller spaces for individuals or groups and a co-working area for a more relaxed study environment. Opening from 10am for coffee and offering full bar services and quality Italian food from a partner provider, Tantino, from 11am until late into the night, the Terrace is there for students almost any time of the day.
Students continuously tell us how important it is for LUU to make climate-friendly choices so from reusing furniture and fixtures to adding plants to improve air quality, we made sure sustainability was embedded throughout the process.
There’s products for students who want to drink alcohol and those who are teetotal, a new order and pay app, LUU Eats, upgraded sound-systems and 86-inch digital screens meaning an excellent set up for societies, live music, as well as external events and conferences. All of this fronted by over 40 fantastic student staff working alongside their studies.
We are really delighted that this work has been recognised and that students have an on-campus bar they can be proud of. This award joins Terrace’s NUS Best Bar None Awards, meaning we have been able to offer our students a fun, safe night out.
